Present Moment Circle

Present Moment Circle is a lightly facilitated, emergent practice of exploring the present moment in connection with others. The practice often looks like a mindful conversation that stays primarily about the present moment… what feelings, thoughts, sensations, or energies am I experiencing? How does what other participants say, do, or experience impact my moment?

Present Moment Circle has roots in “Circling” (as emerged in the Bay Area in the mid 90’s) as well as various modalities of mindful communication. This is a confidential space where we take ownership for our experience, and refrain from attempting to fix or change others. Any participation is emergent and voluntary.

These are open circles with a maximum size of 6 participants in each meeting including Ko. First time is free! $10-30 sliding scale as you feel per group after that. Check in with Ko if the contribution is an obstacle to participation.

Contact Ko to RSVP or for more info: 425-471-5479

Here is a one way communication Whatsapp group where it will be posted when a particular session is full and when other days are added.

Facilitator: Ko Darlington carries 33 years of professional experience offering 1:1 therapies including somatic, energetic, dialog, craniosacral, visceral, and movement modalities, as well as facilitation of group practices and workshops. Present Moment Circle began in 2020 as a personal exploration with close community members. Ko currently facilitates 2 groups per week online which are also open to new participants. More info here.

Words from Participants

Present Moment Circle is amazing- I attended an in person circle with Ko regularly for a year. I had no experience when I came in and I was surprised how nourishing and supportive this weekly experience was for me. It deepened my sense of community, offered opportunity to grow in my relational skills (with clear tools I still use today), and deepened my presence and connection with myself. Most importantly it helped me hear others more deeply and improve connection in my relationships. I am forever grateful for this practice and would highly recommend Ko’s wise yet gentle approach as a facilitator.
Present moment circles facilitated by Ko have been transformational for me. The combination of the commitment to stay in the experience of the personal present moment combined with deep curiosity about another’s experience is vulnerable, enlightening and intimate. I am part of many other ‘modalities’ and I know of no other way of being that brings this gift
Present Moment Circling with Ko is a kind of energy medicine in my experience. The practice helps me drop into what is deeply true in my body right now, integrating physical and emotional awareness that might otherwise remain hidden within. Under Ko’s guidance I feel more conscious, alive and aware in a kind of inescapable honest consciousness with my inner being.
I learn many communication tips, tools and techniques for deepening authentic connection with others. Heck, I just used these skills speaking with an insurance company on the phone the other day and received incredible benefit and outcome!

The Dharma of Radical Community

The Dharma of Radical Community: uncovering our organic connection (even with those that trigger us)

Another 4 Mondays - Aug 4- Aug 25, 6:30pm

Suggested donation $15 (no one turned away)

Community is what we all long for — to be seen, honored, respected, understood... Even loved.

Community is also one of the most threatening aspects of human life, where misunderstandings, judgements and disappointments can lead to painful experiences.

Often, we ask ourselves, “Should I try to get closer to others, or do I need more distance?”

The Buddhist tradition has a tremendous amount to offer in how to navigate this delicate web of connection and disconnection — including how to see our experiences of community as a path to complete awakening which liberates us from all suffering.

Class 4 (Monday August 4)

Community is Empty (in a good way!) — Are we interconnected? Are we separate? How can we balance our individuality with community in a constantly changing matrix?

Class 5 (Monday August 11)

Community Beyond the Human — community isn't just in our human dimension. There is a living field of connection beyond our limited awareness.

Class 6 (Monday August 18)

Flowing with the Seasons of Connection and Disconnection — with proper practice, we can navigate connecting with others and also those moments where connection breaks down, without falling into cynicism

Class 7 (Monday August 25)

Connecting in Sameness and Difference — having a sense of community means we need to identify with others to some degree. How can we do this without being naive or simpleminded? How can we maintain discernment without becoming harsh?

TEACHER: GREG HEFFRON

Greg began teaching Buddhist classes in 2005 (Sakyong Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism) and has presented these profound teachings across three continents, and in cultures as diverse as Ukraine, Canada, Austria, Chile, United States, Switzerland, Poland and Holland. He is the Executive Director of Green Light Communication, dedicated to a unique mindfulness-based approach to communication which combines ancient tantric Buddhist insights with modern psychology. He is a featured author in "Mindful Communication: Speaking and Listening with Wisdom and Compassion” and coaches those with chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) how to profoundly love their lives even when they are experiencing profound discomfort.
